Ever Considered Art In A Business
by Lisa Hennings
http://www.artchief.com

First impressions are always very important. The minute a
prospective customer or visitor walks into the reception
area of a company, the image of the business is set. Art
in the workplace is important not only to visitors but also
to employees. The atmosphere portrayed when entering a
building is all important and who knows, each person
visiting, may be a potential future customer. If you make
an impression, they will remember you.

If you take time to look objectively at your office you
may find that it isn't the pleasant environment that you
believed it to be. We tend to become used to our clutter
and accept the cables on the floor and the piles of papers
on the desk as part of the scenery. A piece of dramatic art
will take the visitor's eye away from all of this and lift
their minds to higher realms. It will give the visitor an
insight into what you, as a company value and the chances
are they will want to be part of a company who they see as
open to new ideas and wanting to encourage different
cultures and attitudes.

A great deal of money is spent each year by companies
advertising their corporate identities. Company
stationery, logos and signwriting on buildings and company
vehicles, should all be standard and portray the image of a
successful and forward thinking business. All forms of
communication are important, the colours and designs used
on stationery, should all have an influence on the company
image.

The whole package that you are trying to create reflects
your values, expertise, personality, promise and vision. In
a similar manner the art that people see in reception of
meeting rooms reflects the personality and culture of the
business.

A good way of getting the most from you art is to change
it with the seasons. For instance, reds and golds for
winter, light greens and yellows for spring, blues and
yellows for summer and golds and browns for autumn. Such
changes will not only change the whole ambience of the room
but will inspire and reinvigorate the attitudes of
employees. At the end of the day the enthusiasm of the
employees makes or breaks a business and it's therefore
their minds that need to be stimulated and motivated
aesthetically just as much as by caffeine, biscuits or
alcohol!

Try to look at your business from an outsider's point of
view. What impressions are formed when visitors first enter
the building? How do your employees feel when they come to
work, are they uplifted by their surroundings?
The image that you have created for your business must be
shown in all forms of communication, from letters,
deliveries, through to visits to the company.
Employees are an important source of information and their
opinions should be taken seriously.
Your business is important and if you want to get the most
from it, then take time to ascertain the differences that
can be made to your employees by changing the environment
in which they work. Your clients will be more receptive to
your ideas and overall your business will improve and after
several months there should be a reflection in your profits.
